Michael McIntyre presents Easter Night at the Coliseum

Last night, both myself and my Mum were lucky enough to get tickets to see Michael McIntyre’s Easter Night at the Coliseum all thanks to ApplauseStore.

Having collected the tickets earlier on in the day (Big thanks to ApplauseStore’s Manesh who made the whole process so easy, got all our tickets sat together and was just really lovely!), we later returned to The Coliseum on St Martin’s Lane, home to the English National Opera, for what was promised to be an evening of laughs and entertainment. I was so excited! Kyle and I had always said we would one day like to see one of Michael’s shows and now, here we were, in the stunning Coliseum (For more pictures, check out my post on The Nutcracker here).

Michael opened the show with the cast of Anything Goes before introducing his first act (whose name I cannot remember but after a cheeky Google search, I’ve found out their names are Wu Zhengdan and Wei Baohua) who were what can only be described as a Chinese duo performing ballet acrobatics. It was absolutely sensational, and I was in complete awe during their entire performance.

We also found out that Catherine Tate, or should I say Nan, was sat in one of the boxes and remained in character all night, chipping in her opinion after each of the acts.

The next act was comedian/musician/actor, Bill Bailey who did a great comedic musical set which featured a little joke on Downton Abbey.

Next up, Michael had some audience participation whilst some musical prodigy children performed, well actually it was just one boy who was a 12-year-old pianist and singer. He was very cute, and a natural performer!

After which, multi-platinum singer-songwriter Sia performed her song, Big Girls Cry, which was absolutely stunning. Whilst they were setting up on stage, she had a little chat with the audience and as silly as it sounds, in those few seconds, she just seemed like such a genuine and down-to-Earth person.

After the interval, America’s Got Talent winner, Mat Franco performed some magic tricks with Michael which came across quite spontaneous and unrehearsed. They even came into the audience at one point, and you might be able to see a sneaky familiar face in the background.

Michael then introduced the next act as one of his favourite comedians, and it was none other than Eddie Izzard.

To close the show, Ella Henderson performed two of her songs, Mirror Man and Ghost, and her vocal was just faultless.

I’ve tried to keep this post quite short and sweet, with small samplers from the evening so as to not spoilt the show being shown this Easter Sunday.

I am so glad I got to go to this show and finally see Michael McIntyre live (I haven’t really said how funny he was on the night with his jokes between each act, but trust me- he’s great!) and to see such incredible performers all in one night! I’m really looking forward to re-watching the show and seeing how all the retakes and changes on the night get edited to fit into the one hour show this Sunday!

Thanks again to ApplauseStore for the tickets and all your helpful staff on the day, and all photos, unless otherwise stated, are thanks to Rebecca Bell.

The show will be shown this Easter Sunday, 5th of April 2015, at 8pm on BBC One.
