As you walk into Sketch through its black velvet curtains manned by a doorman, you almost forget you are just a stones throw away from the madness of Regent Street.
Sketch London is a quirky central London hot spot with various dining rooms that each have their own unique theme. Our 3:30pm reservation was for Afternoon Tea at the Gallery, a theme that can only be described as 60’s Barbie chic with it’s pink walls and plush chairs.

We placed our order to each have a cream tea- two scones, two varieties of jam- strawberry and fig, clotted cream and a pot of your choice of tea for £10.50. I chose to have one plain scone and a fruit scone with a Chai tea, as suggested by our waitress, and Rebecca had two plain scones with an Assam breakfast tea. The scones were delicious and served warm and my tea with it’s hint of cinnamon was so comforting- just what we needed after battling the British rain outside moments earlier.

As we sat and chatted, our waitress was attentive and made sure to keep our jam and clotted cream stash replenished. After finishing my pot of tea, our waitress asked if I wanted to try another tea and suggested I try the Blackcurrant and Hibiscus tea whilst Reb chose to stick to the Assam breakfast for her second pot.

After all that tea, we popped to the bathroom to find the interesting toilet ‘pods’ scattered up above on the top floor. A very cool multi-coloured ceiling accompanied the pods and although appealing to look at, were very much a gimmick and not very practical for the bathroom. I must say, I still found them cool nonetheless!

My verdict on the afternoon? A cream tea in Central London with a unique vibe, great service and delicious scones- definitely worth a visit!
