Having heard about Drink, Shop & Do before, I was really excited when my friend suggested we meet there on Monday night. Add in the fact that I had known said friend since I was 8 and hadn’t seen her in over 10 years meant it truly was the perfect evening!
Drink, Shop & Do is a café by day and a bar by night. They host a variety of events each evening- from learning how to dance like Queen Beyoncé on a Thursday night, tie-dying a t-shirt or making jewellery out of knots… there’s a craft for everyone and a drink (and a slice of cake!) to accompany it!
Strolling in just after 7:30, we got ourselves a drink and got comfy for some cross stitching! Sprawled over each table were numerous colours of threads, circular frames, needles and books of patterns filled with inspiring ideas you could start to create that very evening!

Jamie, aka Mr X Stitch, was really nice and very helpful/patient in getting us all started. Within the room, there was a variety of levels of cross stitchers- from basic beginners to the advanced!
The idea was that we were to start off doing a smiley face to get some practice and then we could go off and do what we liked! After doing an eye or so of the face, everyone seemed to go off and do their own thing but given the time constraint of less than 2 hours, I decided to stick out the smile!

Not sure Mrs Dutton (our junior school art teacher) would be proud of our cross stitch now…
Putting the cross stitch and cocktail to one side, it was so great to catch up with Frankie and Bec after so long.. and it was great to meet Frankie’s friend, Claire (who cross stitched a semi finished “No coke in the bathroom” piece of art!). No matter how many years had passed, it was great to just catch up like no time had passed at all.

I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and truly felt I could pick up cross stitching in the future so I could frame fun patterns and sayings.I’m still not sure what I’m going to do after my smiley face.. but I am definitely keen to make “bitch peas” with a pod of peas underneath it in a frame!

I would definitely recommend both Drink, Shop & Do as well as any events by Mr X Stitch. I have even signed up to the Drink, Shop & Do mailing list and followed Mr X Stitch on most forms of social media in order to stay informed!
